In the latest episode of the Health Storytelling Author Q&A series, Maryn McKenna, Senior Fellow in the Center for the Study of Human Health, will interview science writer Dr. Emily Willingham about her most recent book, The Tailored Brain: From Ketamine, to Keto, to Companionship, A User’s Guide to Feeling Better and Thinking Smarter (Basic Books). The Tailored Brain explores methods of potential “brain transformation”, from prescription drugs to diet. Dr. Willingham has a bachelor’s degree in English and a PhD in biology, both of which she uses to write about science and society. She is a regular contributor to Scientific American and she has written multiple other books about brains, parenting, biology, and their unexpected intersections. She previously appeared in the Author Q&A series in 2020 to discuss her book Phallacy: Life Lessons from the Animal Penis (Avery).
