Irene John is a sophomore at Emory majoring in Human Health with a focus on Epidemiology. After graduation, she plans to pursue medicine, while continuing her interest in public health and journalism. She currently conducts research in the Fani Lab, where she studies how different forms of interpersonal trauma, including racial trauma, influence brain function and behavior. Outside of the classroom, she volunteers with Best Buddies, working with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and serves as a Georgia Ambassador for the Parkinson’s Foundation, advocating for increased research. At Emory, she is a news editor for the The Emory Wheel, a mentor with The Emory Pipeline Collaborative, and a member of the logistics branch for Emory Health and Development in Guatemala.
