#EmoryBandTogether is an initiative developed by Emory’s Center for the Study of Human Health and the Center for Student Success Programs and Services to increase awareness about food insecurity. We believe this partnership is a unique higher education model that is far-reaching and draws on the combined strengths of an academic and a campus-life program.

In spring 2018, we successfully launched a social media and community engagement campaign, including a four-day food drive. These collective efforts resulted in over 350 donated food and hygiene products to restock the Emory Food Co-op located at Bread Coffeehouse.

Building on this success, our efforts this year include expanding our Emory partnerships across campus. Alongside Healthy Eating Partners, within the Human Health program, and PhD Nutrition students, within the Laney Graduate School (Nutrition and Health Sciences), we have incorporated a nutrition educational component to our initiative. Leveraging the strengths of our collaborators, we aim to combat food insecurity by promoting awareness, building empathy, cultivating change, and increasing access.

For 2019, our mission is to provide 100 students with 5 meals each during spring break.
